Summary: We are seeking a HSE Project Manager to work on our Signalling projects, based in either our London or Epsom office. The role involves supporting the Head of HSE and Project teams in implementing the 5-year Safety, Wellbeing & Environment & Sustainability Strategy and Plan. The successful candidate will be a skilled communicator, capable of building relationships with clients, contractors, and the supply chain. The role emphasizes promoting positive behaviors, fostering an open culture of collaboration, and ensuring on-site interaction aligns with project requirements. The position requires travel, primarily in the southern and western regions of London. There may be opportunities to support other business streams and engage with our Transportation HSE team. Please note that flexibility regarding working weekends and bank holidays is essential for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent Atkins in project and construction HSE meetings with the client, principal contractor, and sub-contractors, ensuring awareness of future work activities, identifying risks, and arranging safety control measures.
  • Ensure project teams and contractors adhere to Construction, Design and Management (CDM) regulations, HSE legislation, and Client Standards.
  • Deliver and develop toolbox talks to support project stand-ups, providing suitable material and presentations for employee and contractor interaction.
  • Implement and maintain specific site project induction and HSE plans.
  • Conduct timely and effective investigations and reporting of injuries, incidents, and close calls, meeting client and Atkins standards.
  • Monitor PowerBI Dashboard Reports to ensure Key Performance Targets are met and implement necessary measures at the project level to maintain statistics.
  • Plan and conduct internal and external audits to ensure compliance with Project/Company policies, strategies, and procedures.
  • Communicate extensive knowledge of ISO9001, ISO14001, and OHSAS145001.
  • Support the development and review of HSE management systems and SharePoint sites.
  • Provide on-site coordination of management systems and SharePoint sites, offering advice, support, and guidance to the Project Management team.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • NEBOSH Diploma (desirable)
  • NEBOSH Certificate (mandatory - construction desirable)
  • Chartered membership of IOSH (desirable)
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels
  • Extensive knowledge of ISO9001, ISO14001, and OHSAS145001
  • Experience in investigation techniques
  • Experience in developing and monitoring management systems
  • Formal Environmental qualification (e.g., IEMA Certificate, desirable)
  • Awareness of Network Rail NR/L2/ENV015 Environmental & Social Standard (desirable)
  • Preferable experience in the Railway and Construction Industry
  • Ability to identify HSE improvement opportunities
  • Awareness of behavioral safety programs (desirable)

Additional Information: This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will depend on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. The vetting process is conducted by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK for five years or longer. If security clearance is necessary, it will be discussed during the interview process.
